Nesta seção estudaremos os nomes dos alimentos em Inglês. Começaremos nosso estudo a partir das frutas:

* Curiosidade: Apesar de associarmos lemon a limão, a fruta não é a mesma a que estamos acostumados. O limão de casca verde (limão Tahiti), bastante utilizado no Brasil, é chamado, no inglês, lime. Lemon é o que conhecemos como limão siciliano, e pode também ser usado para a lima.

Carnes - Meats
USOS DE MEAT COM SENTIDO FIGURADO:
There's no much meat on this chop.
There's no much meat on her (= she is very thin.)
Beef = carne bovina (meat that comes from a cow)
Steak = pedaço de qualquer tipo carne, frita ou grelhada, de boa qualidade; principalmente usado para se referir ao filé bovino. (a thick slice of any type of meat: pork steak, chicken steak, etc.)
*Steak house = restaurante onde o principal alimento servido é o filé; também traduzido como churrascaria. (a restaurant that serves mainly steak.)
Pork = carne de porco. Não confunda pork com pig! Pork se refere à carne de porco comestível e pig se refere apenas ao animal. (roast pork = porco assado; a leg of pork = perna de porco)
Chicken = frango. Esta palavra é usada para se referir tanto ao animal frango quanto à carne de frango que também é alimento. (roast chicken = frango assado; fried chicken = frango frito; chicken livers = fígado de frango; chicken breasts = peito de frango; chicken thighs = coxa de frango)
Lamb = carneiro. Lamb é usado para se referir tanto ao animal carneiro quanto à carne deste animal que também é alimento.
